    "About year after the move to Bardstown, Brewer passed away in 1806.  It appears that Mary went to Holland after that for a visit for a short time.  This leads one to believe Dutch origin."

    Esther Wade Holland was the aunt who shared her research with me.  In her application for membership to the Daughters of the American Revolution
    it states on number 6: " The said Mary Eleanor was the child of James
    Brewer born CA 1760 at St. Mary's County, Maryland, died at Washington County, Kentucky on CA 1806 and his first wife as Mary Yates born in Maryland and died at Washington County, Kentucy after 1819.  There was a note on Maryland Catholic Marriage Records, page 683 for James Brewer and Mary Yates.  Some of her records were taken from "Catholic Pioneers at the Rolling Fork
    Settlement, Washington County, Kentucky" by Gerald Thompson and
    "Maryland Catholics on the Frontier" by Timothy J. O'Rouke.  Military record for James Brewer was taken from "Chronicles of St. Mary County, Maryland  Vol. 4, pages 40 -47. "  In my research, I find that Mary Yates remarried after the death of her husband James Brewer to Joseph Abner Abell, April 29, 1816, in Washington County, Kentucky."

    My line comes off Mark Brewer who was the brother to Ellen Wade. They are the children of James Brewer and Mary Yates. There were 8 children - Mary Ellenore, Richard,James, Mark,George, Samuel,Martin and Joseph. I have some birth dates.

He is also have a negro boy named Jack, and two negro girls named Poll and Phyllis. Son: Joseph Brewer, one gray mare and colt now with her; one bed and furniture; one ewe and lamb. Son: Thomas Brewer, one cow and calf being all of the cattle belonging to me. All of the other cattle now on the
