Pieter was born on March 22nd, 1758.  Pieter's father was Joseph BAECKELANDT and his mother was Barbara DE VRIENDT.  His paternal grandparents were Judocus BAECKELANDT and Livina DE LOOF.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named Martinus-Joseph, Joannes, Ferdinand, Jeanne-Marie and Maria-Judoca.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 64 on January 5th, 1823.
