Barbra's father was Andrew Taylor and her mother was Ann Scoffield.  Her maternal grandparents were James Scoffield and Jane Bone. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James, Andrew, Robert, Andrew, David, Joseph, Annie, Jannet, Janet, Mary and Jane.  She was the second oldest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 20 in 1830 in Ayrshire.¹
