Edward was born on February 11th, 1788 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place there on March 12th, 1788. Edward's father was Edward COWEN (COWEY) and his mother was Mary ARMSTRONG. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, George, James, Ann, Dorothy, Margaret and Mary.  He was the fifth oldest of the eight children.  He died as an infant at the age of 1 on March 11th, 1789 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.
