Dorothy was born on November 11th, 1783 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England and her baptism took place there on November 12th, 1783.1  Dorothy's father was Edward COWEN (COWEY) and her mother was Mary ARMSTRONG. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Edward, George, James, Ann, Margaret and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died due to a childhood disease at the age of 2 on December 23rd, 1785 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.1
