Ann was born in 1822 in Potters Bar, Middlesex.1  Ann's father was Daniel Shambrook and her mother was Maria Lane.  Her paternal grandparents were James Shambrook and Elizabeth Bent. She had five brothers and five sisters, named William, Daniel, Joseph, David, Benjamin, Maria, Mary, Rebecca, Eliza and Charlotte.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.
