Charlotte was born in 1842 in Enfield, Middx.1  Charlotte's father was Daniel Shambrook and her mother was Maria Lane.  Her paternal grandparents were James Shambrook and Elizabeth. She had five brothers and five sisters, named William, Daniel, Joseph, David, Benjamin, Ann, Maria, Mary, Rebecca and Eliza.  She was the second youngest of the eleven children.
