Charles, known as The Lame, was born in 1254 in Naples, Italy.1   The Lame's father was Charles of Sicily I and his mother was Beatrice Berenger of Provence.  His paternal grandparents were King Louis (The Lion) Capet of France VIII and Princess Blanche Alphonsa of Castile; his maternal grandparents were 4th Count of Provence Raymond Berenger V and Beatrice of Savoy.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 55 on May 5th, 1309.1

They had a son and two daughters, named Charles, Margaret and Eleanor.


The Lame's second family with Matilda de Chatillon

They had a daughter named Isabella.
