Philip was born on August 21st, 1165 in Gonesse, Val-d'Oise, France.1  Philip's father was King Louis (The Younger) Capet of France VII and his mother was Adele of Blois de Champagne.  His paternal grandparents were King Louis (The Fat) France IV and Alix of Savoy; his maternal grandparents were Count of Blois and Champagne Theobald (The Great) of Blois III and Maud de Carinthia. He had five sisters named Marie, Marguerite, Adelaide, Alice and Agnes.  He was the third youngest of the six children. He had a half-sister named Alix.  He died at the age of 57 on July 14th, 1223 in Mantes, France.  He was buried in Saint Denis Basilica.2 3
