Izyaslav was born in 1096 in Kiev, Ukraine.1   Izyaslav's father was Grand Duke Mstislas of Kiev I and his mother was Princess Kristina Ingesdottir of Sweden.  His paternal grandparents were Grand Duke of Kiev Vladimir (Monomach) Rurik of Kiev II and Princess of England Gytha Haroldsdottir (of Wessex); his maternal grandparents were King of Sweden Inge Stenkilsson I and Queen Helena Torildsdatter Blot-Sven of Sweden. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Vsevolod, Roman, Svyatopolk, Rostislav, Kseniya, Ingeborg, Malmfrida, Mariya, Irina, Rogneda and Marie. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Vladimir and Euphrosine.  He died at the age of 58 on November 13th, 1154.1

They had four sons and a daughter, named The Brave, Rostislav, Yaroslav, Yaropolk and Evdokiya.
