Mary Plantagenet

Mary was born in 1288 in Grosmont Castle, Monmouth, Wales.¹ Mary's father was Edmund (Crouchback) Plantagenet and her mother was Princess Blanche Capet of Artois. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet of England III and Lady Eleanore Berenger of Provence; her maternal grandparents were Prince, Count Robert Capet of France I and Mahaut Matilda of Brabant. She had three brothers named Thomas, Henry and John. She was the youngest of the four children. She had a half-sister named Jeanne.
