Irini was born in 1184 in Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.1   Irini's father was Emperor Isaac Angelos II and her mother was Irena Comnenus.  Her paternal grandparents were Andronikos Angelos and Euryphrosyne Kastamonites; her maternal grandparents were Emperor Andronikos Comnenos I and Theodora Kalusine Comnene.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 24 on August 27th, 1208.1

Irini and Philip were married in 1196.2   They had three daughters named Beatrice, Kunigunde and Maria.
