Silas Whitman Owen 
Silas Whitman was born on August 9th, 1798 in Bethel, Windsor County, VT.1 Silas Whitman's father was Andrew Owen and his mother was Sarah Walden Newman. His paternal grandparents were Sylvanus (Silvanus) Owen and Eunice Roberts. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named David, Hiram, Susan, Eunice, Lucy, Amanda, Mary, Betsy and Alice. SEVENTH GENERATION
Silas Whitman Owen [7] (Andrew [6], Sylvanus [5], Josiah III [4], Josiah II [3], Josiah I [2], John [1]), son of Andrew and Sarah (Newman) Owen, was born at Bethel, Windsor County, VT, on August 9, 1798. He Married March 22, 1817 Roxanna Albee, daughter of ................ of Barre, Washington County, VT. She was descended from Benjamin Albee, Carpenter, miller, land-surveyor, who was in Boston, MA and still later lived at Mendon, MA.
Silas Owen was killed by a falling tree July 7, 1840. His widow found it necessary to break up the family of eight children, so that some were raised by relatives or friends.
