Amanda Owen 
Amanda was born on February 8th, 1809 in Bethel, Windsor County, VT.1 Amanda's father was Andrew Owen and her mother was Sarah Walden Newman. Her paternal grandparents were Sylvanus (Silvanus) Owen and Eunice Roberts. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Silas Whitman, David, Hiram, Susan, Eunice, Lucy, Mary, Betsy and Alice. Amanda married Henry Harrison Colman on April 30, 1839 and set out for Michigan by way of Buffalo. They were accompanied by her younger sister Alice. They stopped to visit their uncle, Lodrick Owen, arriving there on May 7, 1839 as recorded in Alice Owen's Bible. They planned to join their brother Hiram at Kalamazoo, MI, but when they arrived at Kalamazoo they found him dead and buried. Amanda and her husband settled at Oshtemo, MI.
