THIRD GENERATION
Josiah Owen II [3] (Josiah [2], John [1]), son of Josiah and Mary (Osborn), was born June 4th or 6th, 1675 at Windsor, CT and died August 15th, 1763 at Hebron, CT. At the age of ten he moved with his parents to Simsbury. On December 31, 1698 he married Mary Hosford. She was one of ten children. She was born in Windsor August 12, 1674 and died July 11, 1753 at Hebron. About the time of her marriage she inherited 100 L. from her father. ($5,000)
Josiah Owen II and Mary had born to them in Simsbury five children: Asahel, Noah, Silas, Amos, and Mary. After the birth of Mary in 1707 and before 1710 they removed to a new settlement, 20 miles S.E. of Hartford, CT known as Hebron.
Josiah Owen II remained in Hebron all his life. Four more children were born here: Isaac, Martha, Josiah III, and Anne. On February 25, 1713 Josiah Owen, Sr. of Windsor, for good will etc., gave his son Josiah of Hebron the west half of lot No. 15 in Simsbury which had ben given to him by the inhabitants of Simsbury in 1692. In May 1713 Josiah Owen, Jr. of Hebron, CT sold this land to Samuel Case, Jr. of Windsor.
In October 1722, Josiah Owen II was appointed administrator of the estate of his father. The will included the following bequests to Josiah Owen II:
"50 acres at a place called Turkey Hills, to my son Josiah, now of Hebron, valued at 22 L."
"7 acres in Windsor, near a place called Poquonock, to my son Josiah of Hebron, valued at 22 L."
In his will, dated in 1750 and proved om 1763, Josiah named his wife, his sons Noah, Silas, Amos, Isacc, Josiah, and his daughters Mary and Martha, and the children of his deceased son Asahel (Hebron Town Records).
