Robert II was born in Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland.  Robert II's father was Walter Stewart and his mother was Margaret De Bruce.  His paternal grandparents were James Steward and Jill of Ulster; his maternal grandparents were Robert I of Scotland and Isabel Matilda MacGylocher. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Andrew, Egidia and Jean.  He died on May 13th, 1390 in Ayrshire, Scotland.  He was buried in Scone Abbey, Perthshire, Scotland.
