Reason , Jr. was born on April 25th, 1776 in Ohio Co.,Va.. Reason , Jr.'s father was Resin (Reason) Pumphrey and his mother was Sophia Ridgely. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Pumphrey and Ann Cockey; his maternal grandparents were William III Ridgely and Mary Orrick. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Nicholas R., William Ridgley, Joseph, Beal, Joshua, Silas, John Boone and Rhoda. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named Caleb. He died at the age of 82 on July 17th, 1858 in Leesville,Carroll Co.,Ohio.-
