Johan Adam was born on September 11th, 1753 in Lynn Township, Lehigh or Allemangel, Northampton, Pennsylvania. Johan Adam's father was Andreas Volck and his mother was Maria Margaretha Romig. His paternal grandparents were Andreas Volck and Anna Catharina Meckel; his maternal grandparents were Johann Adam Romich and Agnes Margaretha Bernhardt. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named Heinrich, Johannes, Johann Georg, Johannes, Andreas, Anna Maria, Infant Daughter, Christina, Anna Catherina, Maria Magdalena, Maria Margaretha, Johanna and Infant Daughter.
