Amos was born on October 6th, 1839 in ,,Bartholomew Co,IN. Amos' father was Joshua E Crosby and his mother was Catherine Jones. His paternal grandparents were George Crosby and Susanna Evans. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Joshua, George Washington, John Richard, David Porter, Angeline C, Nancy Sarah, Ruth Jane, Elizabeth, Indiana, Hettie and Susannah.
