David Porter was born on February 23rd, 1841 in ,,Bartholomew Co,IN. David Porter's father was Joshua E Crosby and his mother was Catherine Jones. His paternal grandparents were George Crosby and Susanna Evans. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Joshua, George Washington, John Richard, Amos, Angeline C, Nancy Sarah, Ruth Jane, Elizabeth, Indiana, Hettie and Susannah.
