William I, known as The Lion, was born in 1143 in Scotland.  The Lion's father was Earl Henry Canmore deHuntington and his mother was Gundred Adelaide de Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were King David I (The Saint) Scotland and Maud Mathilda deHuntingdon; his maternal grandparents were William II deWarren Earl of Surrey and Countess Isabel de Vermandois. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Waleran, Avicia and Avicia (Avice).  He died at the age of 71 on December 4th, 1214 in Stirling,Scotland.
