Maud Matilda was born in September 1201 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Maud Matilda's father was Earl William Marshal and her mother was Countess Isabel fitz Gilbert de Clare.  Her paternal grandparents were John (the Marshall) Fitz Gilbert and Sibilla (Sibyl) de Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Earl Richard "Strongbow" deClare and Aoife (Eve) MacMurchadda of Leinster. She had a sister named Eva.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-sister named Eva.  She died at the age of 46 on March 27th, 1248 in Framlingham, County Norfolk, England.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England.
