Thomas was born on December 12th, 1725.  Thomas' father was Andrew Breckenridge and his mother was Isobella Jamison.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Brakenrig and Janet Wilson. He had five brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Andrew, Edward, Andrew, Agnes, Janet, Sarah and Jean.  He was the oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named William, Edward and Isobell.
