John Breckenridge

  • John Brackenridge and Janet Pickan married at Southend, September 8,
    1759 and lived at Gartloskan Farm, Southend Parish and later at Chiskan,
    Campbeltown Parish. John Brackenridge, farmer in Chiskan, died the year
    1811 and his wife, Janet Pickan, died the year 1819. Sons, Andrew and
    Thomas Breakinridge erected a head stone in the Kilkerran Cemetery at
    Campbeltown in memory of their father and mother, John and Janet (Pickan)
    Breakinridge.

    of their father John Breakinridge, Late Tenant
    in Chiskan who died the year 1811. Also their
    mother Janet Pickan who died the year 1819.
    Four of the children of John Breakinridge and Janet (Pickan)
    immigrated to United States while the rest remained in Kintyre. Three of
    these Breckenridge children settled in Washington County, Ohio and one
    settled in Virginia. Nearly 60 Breckenridges of this branch immigrated
    to the United States and Canada from Southern Kintyre, Argyllshire,
    Scotland.
