Isobell was born on June 19th, 1751.  Isobell's father was Andrew Breckenridge and her mother was Janet Finlay.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Brakenrig and Janet Wilson. She had two brothers named William and Edward.  She was the second oldest of the three children. She had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Thomas, James, John, Andrew, Edward, Andrew, Agnes, Janet, Sarah and Jean.
