Ágnes' father was Mihály Körtvélyesi and his mother was Mária Barbély.  His paternal grandparents were János Körtvélyesi and Zsuzsanna Varga. He had five brothers and a sister, named Pál, Vendel, Mihály, János, Mihály and Eszter.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 70 on April 26th, 1892 in Halászi.²
