Robert was born on February 23rd, 1728 in Tisbury, Dukes, Massachusetts, USA.1   Robert's father was Gershom Cathcart.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Gershom Cathcart and Phebe Coleman. He had six brothers and eight sisters, named Thomas, Joseph, Jonathan, Hugh, Gershom, Benjamin, Parnell, Abigail, Nancy, Ann, Martha, Phebe, Love and Huldah.  He was the third oldest of the fifteen children.  He died at the age of 67 on July 14th, 1795 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts, USA.1
