Lajos was born on June 15th, 1901 in Aranyos.  Lajos' father was Florencz (Hotenez) Réthy (Szeti?) and his mother was Rebeka Székely.  His paternal grandparents were József Réti (Szeti?) and Eszter Faragó; his maternal grandparents were József Székely and Erzsébet Balázs. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Zoltán, Florencz, Zsófia, Vilma, Zsófia, Eszter, Zsuzsana, Terézia and Terézia.  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  He died due to a childhood disease, vese baj, at the age of 6 on April 9th, 1908 in Aranyos.
