Susan, known as Susannah, was born in 1826 in Breightmet.1  Susannah's father was Jonathan Twist and her mother was Ann (Nancy) Lomax.  Her maternal grandparents were Joshua Lomax and Anne (Nancy) Wood. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Joshua, Peter, Mary, Nancy, Sarah and Deborah. She had an adopted brother named Adam.

‌Susannah and Robert were married.  They had two sons named Adam and Henry.  There are possibly more children.
