Violet was born in 1906 in Birkenhead.¹

Birth Notes

Violet's father was Douglas Mercer and her mother was Frances Violet Smith. Her paternal grandparents were John Robert Mercer and Emily Anne Herring. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Walter, Douglas, George, Albert, Stanley, Gladys and Edith. She was the second oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 80 in 1986.
