Birth Notes

George's father was Douglas Mercer and his mother was Frances Violet Smith. His paternal grandparents were John Robert Mercer and Emily Anne Herring. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Charles, Walter, Douglas, Albert, Stanley, Violet, Gladys and Edith. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
