Birth Notes

Gladys' father was Douglas Mercer and her mother was Frances Violet Smith. Her paternal grandparents were John Robert Mercer and Emily Anne Herring. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Walter, Douglas, George, Albert, Stanley, Violet and Edith. She was the third youngest of the nine children.
