General Notes
My favourite Aunt, Norah (know as "our No") was a jolly person. She would collect all the mint stamps of each of the UK stamp issues to help my collection. Known to the family as "No" never married. She lived at Thompson Street, and was often found in the big Victorian kitchen, cooking or making cups of tea.
Norah worked for the Coop in Birkenhead, and was awarded a "Heart of Gold", a small gold medal for good service, which I will forever keep.
In 1934, Norah was witness to her sister Ellen's marriage to Arthur Bayley
When there was only Norah and Jessie left at big the house, it was getting too much for them, so they sold up and moved to a retirement bungalow in Reade Close, Spital, where they continued to live together until their demise.
Occupation Details
Until after 1939 No's occupation was Clerical Staff Supervisor full time in sales for Coop, in Birkenhead.4
Thompson Street in Tranmere District 5. There was no number 45 recorded for the 1901 census. John and Sarah were living there by 1901 (according to Norah's Birth Cert). We believe the Stocks lived there for a while during WW2 and the the Mathers returned.
In 1911, John and Sarah were living at 65 Holt Road, Tranmere. There six children Joseph (8), Albert (6), John (4), Ellen (2), Norah (1) and Jessie (6 months) were with them.
