Margaret was born in September 1848 in Mellor.1  Margaret's father was William Mather and her mother was Margaret Pomfret. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Nicholas, Amos, Zephaniah, Mary and Nancy.  She was the youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 67 in 1915.
