James Mather

James' father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Amy (Amey or Emy) Worsley.  His paternal grandparents were Edward (Nedde) Mather and Mary Hough. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George, Isaac, Nathan, Thomas, Esther, Peggy, Lucy and Ellen.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, Edward, Thomas, William, Mary, Alice, Ellen and Catherine.  He died at the age of 45 in June 1874 in Adlington.³
