Thomas' father was Thomas Lewis and his mother was Alice Emma Taylor. His paternal grandparents were William Lewis and Catherine Whalley. He had two brothers and four sisters, named William, Edward, Alice, Edna, Eunice and Jessie. He was the sixth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 6 on June 15th, 1918.
