Max was born on 12-Aug-1893 in Trossen. Max's father was Friedrich Smollich and his mother was Henriette Fiedrich. His paternal grandparents were Michael Smollich and ? Hartwig. He was the oldest of two children. He had a sister named Hedwig. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Walter, Ernst, Fritz and Grete. He died, at the age of 52, in 1945 in im Ural.
