Willem was born on March 31st, 1829 in 's Heer Arendskerke.1  Willem's father was Johannes Janse (?) Witkam and his mother was Elisabeth Marinusse Wes(t)dorp.  His paternal grandparents were Johannes-Jan Witkam and Ariaantje Marinise Vermeulen/Vermuele; his maternal grandparents were Marinus V Wes(t)dorp and Lucia Adriaanse Raas. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Martinus, Hubrecht, Adriaan, Johannis, Adrianes, Adriana, Jannetje/Joanna, Maria Theresia and Flora Lucia.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 85 on October 30th, 1914 in Halsteren.
