Adriaan was born on January 9th, 1835 in 's Heer Arendskerke.1  Adriaan's father was Johannes Janse (?) Witkam and his mother was Elisabeth Marinusse Wes(t)dorp.  His paternal grandparents were Johannes-Jan Witkam and Ariaantje Marinise Vermeulen/Vermuele; his maternal grandparents were Marinus V Wes(t)dorp and Lucia Adriaanse Raas. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Martinus, Hubrecht, Willem, Johannis, Adrianes, Adriana, Jannetje/Joanna, Maria Theresia and Flora Lucia.  He was the third youngest of the ten children.  He died at just 3 days old on January 12th, 1835 in 's Heer Arendskerke.1
