Jacob de Vries

Jacob was born in 1783 and his baptism took place on April 11th, 1783 in Dordrecht.¹   Jacob's father was Gerrit Jacobsz de Vries and his mother was IJda/Yda/Ida van der Schalie.  His maternal grandparents were Cornelis Corneliszn van der Schalie/Schally and Aeltje of Alida Cornelis van der Borcht of Burg of Borg. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Cornelis, Teunis, Gerrit, Willem, Gijsbert, Teuntje and Alida.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
