Edward August was born on December 10th, 1883 in Honey Ckeek, WI.  Edward August's father was John Wilhelm Balfanz and his mother was Alvina Springstroh.  His paternal grandparents were Martin Wilhelm Balfanz and Caroline Klein.  He had five brothers and two sisters, named Charles W, William, Henry John, George F, John H, Anna Louisa and Lydia.  He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 63 on May 26th, 1947 in Honey Ckeek, WI.
