Derek Douglas Flood was born 11 Nov 1926 in Plymouth, Devon and was the son of William John Flood and Ida Louise Jennings. He was eight years younger than the only other child in the family (his brother William (Bill)) Derek only lived for a year and a half, dying of convultions. It has been said that he was like a little angel with blond curly hair and hardly ever cried. He was, so the family said, 'too good to live'.
