Mary Jane ROWE 
Mary Jane was born on February 6th, 1849 in Menheniot, Cornwall, England.1 Mary Jane's father was William ROWE and her mother is Ann BLAMEY. Her paternal grandparents are Nathanial ROWE and Mary SEYMOUR; her maternal grandparents are Mark BLAMEY and Mary SEYMOUR. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Josiah, Nathanial, William, William, David, Martha, Lavinia, Louisa, Mary, Selina, Candace and Elizabeth Ann. She died at the age of 50 on May 19th, 1899 in StCleer, Cornwall, England. She was buried in May 1899 in StCleer, Cornwall, England.1 1 General Notes

Mary Jane Rowe was born 6 Feb 1849 at Menheniot, Cornwall. She was the daughter of Willliam Rowe and Ann (nee Blamey) and was the fourth of thirteen children. Her Father was a copper miner and the family moved around, possibly wherever the best work was to be had. Some of the later children were born in Luxulyan and the last one at Tywardreath. Her Father was also a Methodist Lay Preacher so no doubt the children all had a strict upbringing. She married John Hendra at St Blazey Register Office 8 sep 1866. Their first child was born just two months later on 15 Nov 1866. (So even in devout families this kind of situation can occur!!) The child, John Thomas. died at the age of six months. He was the first of fifteen children, thirteen of whom lived to adulthood. Two of the them became centenarians (Ida lived to 105 and Louisa to 102) A number of the children emigrated to Canada and the USA and there are many descendants of John and Ann scattered over those countries. Ann died at the age of fifty (19 May 1899) of a burst appendix, something that would be treatable in the present day. It has been said that she knew she was going to die and arranged her own funeral. It has also been said that her husband was working in the mines in South Africa at the time so was not there when she died. She is buried in the cemetery at St Cleer.
