John Crossley was born in 1861 in Bradford, W. Yorkshire.1   John Crossley's father was Ira Ickeringill and his mother was Mary Ann Crossley.  His paternal grandparents were James Ickeringill and Martha Tatham. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John Crossley, Arthur James, Charles Henry, David Norman, Ira A., Clifford Stanley, Mary Ann B., Ada Jane and Martha Tatham.
