Ira was born in 1836 in Bingley, W Yorkshire and his baptism took place there on May 1st, 1836.  Ira's father was James Ickeringill and his mother was Martha Tatham.  His paternal grandparents were John Ickeringill and Mary Medley; his maternal grandparents were Elijah Tatham and Sarah Scott. He had three brothers and four sisters, named David, James, Thomas, Sarah, Fanny, Mary Ann and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 75 in March 1911 in Keighley, W. Yorkshire.1
