Dirk was born in 1744 in Genderen and his baptism took place there on December 11th, 1774.1  Dirk's father was Huibert Verdoorn and his mother was Neeltje van der Mooren.  His paternal grandparents were Dirck Verdoorn and Antonia Versteegh; his maternal grandparents were Cornelis Peterszn van der Mooren and Dingena Antonisse van der Blok. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Cornelis, Cornelis, Joost, Anthonetta, Dingena and Janneke.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 85 on October 17th, 1829 in Eethen, Genderen en Heesbeen.2
