Willem was born in 1656 in Genderen and his baptism took place there on October 29th, 1656.1  Willem's father is Dirck Willemszn Versteghen and his mother was Maeijken Petersdr Vennix.  His paternal grandparents were Willem Versteghen and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Peter Corneliszn Vennix and Judith Petersdr de Groot. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Bleijs, Peter and Sijcken.  He died at the age of 72 in October 1728 in Genderen.2
