Matthijs was born on January 21st, 1714 in Raamsdonk.1  Matthijs' father was Jan Janszn van Strien and his mother was Anneke Gerritsdr Camp.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Corneliszn van Strien and Eelken Bartholomeus Corneliszn N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Gerrit Wouterszn Camp and Cornelia Matijsdr N.N.. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Jan, Matthijs, Cornelia, Maria, Elke, Adriaentje, Maria and Geertruida.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  He died at 3 months old on May 13th, 1714 in Raamsdonk.1
