Geertruida was born in 1723 in Raamsdonk and her baptism took place there on November 21st, 1723.1  Geertruida's father was Jan Janszn van Strien and her mother was Anneke Gerritsdr Camp.  Her paternal grandparents were Jan Corneliszn van Strien and Eelken Bartholomeus Corneliszn N.N.; her maternal grandparents were Gerrit Wouterszn Camp and Cornelia Matijsdr N.N.. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Jan, Matthijs, Matthijs, Cornelia, Maria, Elke, Adriaentje and Maria.  She was the youngest of the nine children.
