Saerke was born in 1727 in Nieuwaal and her baptism took place on January 19th, 1727 in Gameren.1 2   Her godmother was Peterke Huybertsdr van Haaften. Saerke's father was Cornelis Thomaszn van de Laar and her mother was Pieternel Dirksdr van der Velde.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Corneliszn van de Laar and Sara Petersdr van Haaften; her maternal grandparents were Dirk Pierszn van der Velde and Annetje Sijbrantsdr N.N.. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Dirk, Peter, Jan, Sybrand, Huijbert, Sara and Anna.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 3 in 1730 in Gameren.
